Watching Oprah's episode about teen heartthrob's today brought back some memories. For years, I hid my preteen affection for the Bee Gees and their younger brother, Andy Gibb. In my bedroom, all four brothers adorned my walls. At night, Barry, Maurice and Robin stood sentry above my headboard.
On the opposite wall, Andy's smile and outstretched arms were the last thing I looked at before drifting off to sleep each night.
What's not to love? Foxy feathered dos, toothy grins and abundant chest hair. My maiden name was Gibson, so to my eleven year old mind, it would be so easy once I married one of the Brothers Gibb to slightly alter my surname.
I listened to Barry Gibb's fine falsetto on my Panasonic 8 Track player.
This stereo is listed for $74.99 on eBay right now. If I had the skills, I would buy that thing today and modify it to play my iPod. It's retro, but timeless.
